Check Your Dive Gear
It is important the scuba gear is in proper working order. If it fails under water, it may be very serious risk. This is really very important step especially for rented gear. Ask our instructors to demonstrate the proper use and workings of the scuba equipment you will be using if renting. Should you have your own scuba equipment. Make sure its properly serviced before diving, it life support equipment.
Check if your scuba equipment fits properly
The basic requirements for all be a scuba divers is that you should have a good position to swim horizontally in the water. A nice flat position with good buoyancy is what you want to achieve. You should be neutrally buoyant not sinking or floating up when underwater. You should be in reasonable physical health and fitness for scuba diving sport.
Get proper training prior to attempting scuba diving
Scuba diving is not an activity that you should try without taking formal scuba education. Padi is great diving organisation with great courses for beginners to learn all about scuba diving. Padi certification courses should be taken before you dive without any Padi scuba professional. Diving independently without any formal training or certification is asking for trouble. Padi scuba training sessions will assists in making you more comfortable in the water.
Discover the proper breathing technique
It is important to learn how to breath proper, with correct breathing techniques. You need to NOT HOLD your breath underwater or take shallow breaths. This can lead to an more air being used rather than less. Holding your breath while ascending can lead to a lungs over expansion. The correct way to breathe whilst scuba diving is to breathe deeply and slowly, relaxed breathing and exhale slowly completely!
Always dive with a buddy
Really, is it more fun to dive alone? or with a buddy to sharing the same diving experiences at the local dive sites. We recommended never dive alone and check your buddy frequently so that you both enjoy scuba diving with a buddy. Keep a checking each other whilst diving is good common practice whilst diving. This for good measures so that if an emergency happens, you are there for each other and can ascend in the event of any distress.
Equalize early and often during descents
Every few feet or meters when you descend you will need to equalize your ears. There is pressure difference the deeper you dive, and all air spaces will become compressed. If this air space is in your ears you will feel a squeeze. This can be uncomfortable and will become painful. REMEMBER equalizing early and often.
Ascents from all dives must be slow
In the event you ascend too quickly towards the surface, you’re likely to obtain decompression sickness. decompression sickness can occur if you have spent more time at depths than is allowed. It is, therefore, beneficial to ascend in slow manner and be conservative with your air. Make a safety stop at the end of each dive to avoid decompression sickness.
Plan your Maximum Depths at dive sites
You should be conservative with your depth. Be aware of how deep your depth, how long you’ll remain underwater. Maximum depth unless special training is taking place should be limited to 30m or 100 feet.
When planning your dive, use the rule of thirds.
One third to descend and make the bottom portion of your diving.
One third for ascending and making safety stops.
Finally, the last third is for the inevitable, that situation we never want to go to.
This should be pre-decided before you dive. Both you and your buddy should familiarise yourselves with the dive site plans. Both you and your buddy should also talk about any special hand signals that you will use for communication with one another underwater. what should you do if you get seperated underwater.
RELAX whilst diving
It is crucial to be calm when under water. You can save air if you relax and having good buoyancy control will save air too. Whatever situation you may feel like panicking underwater DON’T! Panicking’s will lead to irrational thing and short cuts.
Ask our staff if you are not familiar with our diving equipment. Just ask we wont bite!!
