IDC PREPARATION

Arrive a day early (sooner the better), you will find out that it will save you lots of time and energy for you to participate in the Prep course. You will have an opportunity to meet the Staff, your fellow candidates so that you get to know each other. We want you to relax & enjoy.

The Prep consists of organizing paperwork, taking a 5-part theory pre-exam which is similar to the IE exam/DM exam. We will help you to remediate your problems. We will also spend some time in the swimming pool and work on demonstration quality of your skills. We will also help you in you open - confine teaching preparations.

Before you arrive at EZ Divers for your IDC in Cyprus

You should have made self-preparations of your own. This will significantly lower the IDC course load and stress level for you. Your IDC will actually be more EASY and enjoyable. If you are well prepared. Reading your Divemaster course work, Knowledge Workbook and encyclopaedia will help you loads.

Make sure that you organize your paperwork before you arrive! (NEW 2010 IDC CREW PACK)

Please bring the following paperwork for the IDC:

Documentation of all your Diving Certifications.
Proof of medical examination not older than 12 months (or see our diving doctor).
Proof of CPR and First Aid not older than 24 months (or take our EFR Instructor Course).
Logbook with proof of 100 dives.
2 passport pictures.
Your OWN Personal Equipment for diving. (No Tanks and Weights needed, these are provided)
Also please make sure that you answer all the knowledge reviews in prepeartion, before you start your IDC course!
If you DO NOT have the required materials, we can arrange for your Padi materials to be sent directly to your home or BUY IT here in resort.

Our IDC Preparation Course ( 1 - 2days )

We would like to invite you to our COMPLIMENTARY Prep course.

Candidates taking the PADI Instructor Development Course are expected to have a good knowledge of diving academics and demonstration-quality pool skills. Maybe it has been some time since your Divemaster training or you may have not been active in assisting with classes.

Perhaps you are just not entirely confident about your level of expertise. If either of these situations applies in your case, this is why our IDC Preparation Course is a must for all candidates.

This course will alleviate those fears and will thoroughly prepare you to enter the IDC with added confidence in academics and confined water skill demonstrations. We frequently have IDC candidates who are not comfortable with Physics or the Dive Tables (especially The Wheel) or they are unable to perform pool skills to demonstration quality.

During the IDC Preparation Course Cyprus will work closely with you to eliminate your individual on MINOR difficulties, before the IDC begins.

PLEASE PREPARE! WE CANNOT TEACH YOU THE DIVEMASTER COURSE.

During the IDC you can then concentrate on preparing your IDC assignments, rather than devoting time to reviewing material and skills you should have covered thoroughly in your Divemaster Course.

Tip: It is highly recommended that you purchase a Diving Knowledge Workbook and answer all the questions. This is the best way to prepare for your IE or take the Dive Thory - IDC Online

PADI Instructor Development Course ( 7 - 9 days )

The PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) is the core of the PADI Instructor training process. The goal of the program is to prepare you to function as an effective PADI Instructor by thoroughly familiarizing you with the PADI system and its entire diver training programs. You will draw upon your current skills and knowledge while learning how to conduct classroom, pool and open water teaching sessions.

While successful completion of the IDC will prepare you for an EZ pass of the Instructor Examination, this is not the focus of the course, we conduct at EZ DIVERS. Our program is specifically designed to arm you with the skills and knowledge you will need to begin your career as a Scuba Instructor.

You will be at ease when you will teach your first "real" course after the IE.

Please note that the IE fee and IDC course fee is not included and must be paid Direct to PADI. Please see our Individual Course Fees page for the current PADI Instructor Examination fee.

IDC Prerequisites:

IDC Candidates, should be certified as a PADI Divemaster, Assistant Instructor or Instructor from another diver training organization.
They must be at least 18 years old, have been certified as a diver for 6 months and
have 60 logged dives (including experience in deep, night and navigation diving).

Note: Proof of 100 logged dives needed for the The IE.

IDC Pool Training

Candidates must also have proof of completing CPR and first aid training within the previous 24 months, and provide documentation of having a medical examination within the previous 12 months showing fitness for diving. If candidates are on our IDC Package, The EFRi will be completed before ALL paperwork is processed for PADI

Candidates, who have completed any of their previous training through diver training organizations other than PADI, must be able to provide copies of their certification cards or other documentation.

Independent Learning:

During you IDC and IE in Cyprus, you will need demonstration quality diving skills, like you performed on the Divemaster Course and be competent in the theory that you studied during your DM course. If you have not come immediately from finishing your DM Training course, your skills, theory are more likely to needing refreshing.

To help you prepare, have your copies of the Diving Knowledge Workbook and the Encyclopaedia of Recreational Diving with you at The IDC in Cyprus.

Study In Your Own Time, Knowledge reviews in the Instructor Candidate Workbook There is also available for you to complete in advance with PADI e-learning Dive Theory Exam Online. This is an extra additional cost of $100 USD, should you choose to the Padi Dive Theory Online.

You will also need to make good competent demonstrations of Dive Skill Circuit, 20 confined water skills, some of which have recently changed.

PADI Instructor Examination (2 days)

IE - Independently conducted by an Instructor Examiner

A PADI Instructor Examination (IE):

This is conducted at one of the hotels and beach in Cyprus over the two days, immediately following one of our Padi IDC.

This program is independently conducted by an Instructor Examiner, who is a member of PADI headquarters staff. This ensures that the evaluation process is objective, impartial and consistent. During the two day program your knowledge of diving theory and the PADI system will be evaluated, as will your ability to deliver teaching presentations in the classroom, pool and openwater.

Please note that the IE fee and IDC course fee is not included and must be paid Direct to PADI. Please see our Individual Course Fees page for the current PADI Instructor Examination fee.

IE Prerequisites:

100 logged dives and certified as a diver for 12 months.

Tip: It's worth noting that more people fail at the IE on the theory exams than on anything else. Remember that preparation is the key to your success.

The Course Director and the staff at Easy Divers will make every effort to prepare you for the IE. If you feel that your not ready, to make the final decision and attend the IE. However we are confident when we say that if you have met the requirements in the IDC, we believe that you will be well prepared for the examinations. We would not send you to the IE if we did not believe that you were ready.

INSTRUCTOR SPECIALTIES

PADI EFRI-Emergency First Response Instructor

This course teaches Instructors how to organize, conduct, market and promote the PADI Emergency First Response Course. The course emphasizes hands-on skills practice and demonstrations. The EFRI Course is low stress and makes you feel confident and relaxed.

EFR is part of several PADI certification levels (Rescue, Divemaster, AI and OWSI). Therefore, it is one of the most marketable courses in the PADI System and allows you to offer all-inclusive programs.

You do not have to send your student elsewhere to complete their diving education.
Also since the EFR course is not diving specific, you can offer this training to all your customers, friends and family.

PADI Instructor Development Course

PADI Enriched Air Nitrox Instructor ( 1 day )

Tip:This is the most popular specialty course worldwide.

Day one you will take the user course and learn about the benefits of Nitrox, safety and analyze it . Day two you will learn how to teach the course and you will go out for two enjoyable Nitrox dives.

If you are already certified as a Nitrox diver, you may take the course in one day.
We can also offer you to integrate this program into your IDC so that you will be able to save some of your valuable time.

PADI Wreck Diving Instructor ( 1 day )

The purpose of the PADI Wreck Diver Instructor Specialty course is to familiarize divers with the skills, knowledge, planning, organization, procedures, techniques, problems, hazards and excitement of diving on wrecks.

The Wreck Diver Instructor Specialty course is intended as a safe, supervised introduction to wreck diving, with emphasis on fun and safety. The goals of PADI Wreck Diver Instructor Specialty trainer are:

To demonstrate practical wreck diving knowledge, including recognizing and avoiding potential hazards, and planning procedures that make wreck diving fun.

Explain the historical value of wrecks, social and legal issues surrounding that value, and describe some of wreck diving’s implications, including the pros and cons of removing artifacts from wrecks.
Plan and organize dives and safely explore wrecks found within depths and conditions as good as or better than those you have been trained in.
Help divers identify the hazards of wreck penetration diving and demonstrate the techniques and procedures required to minimize those hazards.

During the training segment Instructors are required to prepare equipment, plan the dives and demonstrate good diving skills in that environment. There will be a classroom presentation as with all our Speciality Instructor Training on the specific dives you plan to teach.

Tec Rec DSAT Gas Blender Instructor

You might be certified to blend gas, but do you want to teach others to provide gas DSAT Gas Blender Course mixtures? If so, the DSAT Gas Blender Instructor course might be just what you're looking for. The DSAT Gas Blender Instructor course is one of the most informative and comprehensive programs available, incorporating instructional philosophies and course goals that directly address the demanding nature of gas blending.

What can I do as a DSAT Gas Blender Instructor?

What do I need to start?

At least PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor certification and PADI Enriched Air Instructor certification

A DSAT Gas Blender certification or qualifying gas blender certification from another certification organization.

What will I do?

You'll learn the principles and procedures for oxygen cleaning, oxygen service and oxygen compatible air. You'll also learn how to conduct the DSAT Gas Blender course.

How long will it take?

The DSAT Gas Blender Instructor course can take from three days to three weeks.

IDC Staff Instructor

As a seasoned PADI Instructor, you have wisdom and experience to share with up-and-coming PADI leaders. You know that continuing your education never ends. As an Instructor Development Course (IDC) Staff Instructor, you help bring up the next generation of PADI Instructors while gaining in-depth instructor-trainer knowledge.

Because IDC Staff Instructors are an integral part of the PADI IDC, you set the stage for moving on to PADI Course Director as you present topics in the IDC and help shape PADI Divemasters and Assistant Instructors into PADI Open Water Instructors

Similar to the partnership between AI's and Instructors, IDC Staff Instructors work closely with Course Directors, an important team members in the instructor training process.

As a Staff Instructor you may assist instructor development programs and instructor-level continuing education programs. You can also teach the PADI Assistant Instructor Course, a responsibility only you and a PADI Course Director share.

Our IDC Staff Instructor Course gives you at least two full-days with the Course Director prior to an IDC, then you'll take part in a complete IDC program. Even if you don't have the goal of becoming a Course Director, the Staff Course will give you a real "vitamin injection" in your existing teaching techniques.
