BSAC Diver Grades Cyprus

 

BSAC, With 2,500 branches and schools worldwide, BSAC (British Sub Aqua Club) is the largest diving club worldwide. It is internationally recognized as one of the leading sports diver training agencies and their international diver and instructor training is based on over 45 years of experience. The worldwide third party liability insurance covers up to ? 5 Million. Besides exclusive members privileges on scuba diving and specialist training courses, insurance schemes, finance packages and international conferences, BSAC issues also the monthly international journal "Dive".

The BSAC School Diver Grades have been developed to fit closely the needs of the diver who prefers to go to a school for initial training and it is designed to build confidence and self-reliance, whilst keeping safety uppermost.

All BSAC courses utilize the BSAC training system and are BSAC sanctioned and provide a BSAC certification (except introductory).

BSAC Qualifications

When you join a BSAC course you will see that diving skills are taught progressively so that each new experience is built upon step by step. Following basic training in the safety of a swimming pool or protected area, students soon complete their first open water dives to achieve Ocean Diver certification. This progression continues to Sports Diver and beyond, where open water skills and techniques are further developed and experience gained.

Ocean Diver
This course provides you with the essential knowledge and skills needed to prepare for open water diving. Learning to dive is all about learning to use your equipment properly and safely. The Ocean Diver training course concentrates on preparing you for this in the safety of a swimming pool or sheltered water and then introducing you to open water in a controlled and safe manner. This also gives you the opportunity to practice safety skills in the company of a qualified instructor or experienced diver.

BSAC Ocean Diver

Course Overview
The BSAC Ocean Diver Course is divided into four elements:

1. Theory Lessons:
The course begins with a series of eight theory lessons. Theory lessons may be sub-divided into shorter lessons if limited availability of classroom time makes it necessary.

3. Theory Assessment:

In Ocean Diver training, the emphasis is on building a sound foundation of open water diving skill and experience through a series of six open water experience dives supervised by a BSAC Nationally Qualified Instructor and partnered by a BSAC Assistant Club Instructor.

BSAC Sport Diver

Sports Diver
In Sports Diver training, the emphasis is on building a sound foundation of open water diving skills and experience through a series of structured practical lessons. Once you have gained this open water experience with a qualified instructor, you are ready to take part in dives with other Sports Divers or those of higher grades.

Course Overview
The BSAC Sports Diver Course is divided into four elements:

1. Theory Lessons:
The course begins with a series of six Theory lessons. Theory lessons may be sub-divided into shorter lessons if limited availability of classroom time makes it necessary.

BSAC Dive Leader

Dive Leader
Dive Leader training concentrates on the responsibilities and safety aspects of leading other divers on an open water dive. Practical lessons in rescue management and rescue skills will give you the confidence and ability to deal with those unforeseen emergencies. Leading a dive will develop your enjoyment, confidence and experience as a diver.

Course Overview

The Dive Leader Course consists of the following elements:
Twelve classroom lessons
A theory assessment
Seven Open Water lessons
Two dry practical lessons
Twenty dives (which may include the Open Water lessons), in a range of conditions, since qualifying as a Sports Diver

DIVE LEADER - OPEN WATER DIVES

DSMB DEPLOYMENT
Deploy a DSMB from mid-water whilst controlling buoyancy

DIVE LEADING DEMONSTRATION
Plan a dive within the limitations of previous experience and be seen as a role model

DIVE LEADING PRACTICE
Plan and conduct a dive within the limitations of a trainee Ocean Diver's lesser experience

SHOT RECOVERY BY SIMPLE LIFT
Use the buoyancy of a lifting bag to reposition a shot weight
Use a lifting bag to raise a shot weight to the surface and deploy a DSMB in mid water

RESCUE MANAGEMENT SCENARIOS
Manage a rescue scenario and participated in other scenarios

Experience a range of different diving conditions during 20 open water dives totalling a minimum in-water time of 600 mins since gaining Sports Diver. Have experience of diving from boats
Have significant experience acting as a dive leader
Have experience of depths greater than 25m.

Advanced Diver

The Advanced Diver course further develops your knowledge and skills. You will gain experience in planning and organising dives at different sites and under different circumstances. Additional experience will be gained in using small boats, chartwork. navigation and many other related skills. The BSAC consider this grade a fully trained diver.

First Class Diver

The BSAC's highest diving grade which requires a higher than average level of theoretical knowledge, organisational and personal diving skills. The First Class Diver award is a culmination of a number of years' of diving experience. BSAC 1st Class Divers are assessed through nationally conducted examinations.
